Lately I have been thinking about how awesome teenagers are and the amazing things they can accomplish when given the right opportunities.
I have been feeling worried about how teenage boys are struggling and racking my brain for ideas on how to help them succeed in life. It occurred to me that teenage boys, like all of us need to have a sense of purpose to be happy and fulfilled.
I was reflecting on my experience in starting and building a business and how much that has allowed me to grow personally and also develop positive self-esteem. Then it clicked.
Teaching teenage boys the skills needed to start their own business would be a fantastic idea!
With the right opportunity teenage boys can feel creative, inspired and productive, while also earning money and the freedom that would bring. Not to mention the amazing life skills they would learn, like how to manage money, think critically, focus on serving others and solving problems.
I have been working on a plan to create such an opportunity and I am super excited about it. I am not ready to share it yet, but for now I want to give you a few interesting articles that I have been reading this week.
I would encourage you to start a dialogue with your son about the possibility of starting what is known as a microbusiness. Ask him this question. If I gave you $100 to start your own business what kind of product or service would you want to offer?
See if his eyes light up or if there is enough there to at least spark his interest.
